Valentine's Day is Coming- Get Yourself some Unique Cards!

It's that time of year where the aisles are filled with red, pink and hearts. Oh yeah...Valentine's Day is coming up fast!

I don't take the holiday too seriously, but my (now) husband and I have been celebrating every year since we first met with a small gift and usually dinner and a movie. And I loooooovvvee giving out cards and little gifts to my friends. I guess I just like any excuse to make things and give them away. While I do that all the time, it is fun to actually have a theme and reason for it if that makes any sense! :)

Anyways...I am babbling. Last year I made some cryptid valentines that I gave away for free to show my love to my followers. I thought I would do the same thing this year because I love you guys! And holy crap...I am actually early with them!

I cannot believe I actually managed to get these done before February! I was going to post them on February 1st, but I thought I would post them now since a lot of people are already looking for and buying cards. Plus, I made it to 700 fans on facebook! Wow!! Thank you so much everybody!

A.T. Phooonnneee Hoooommmmeee! My January Ordeal!

So. What a start to 2012. If you have been following me for any amount of time or know me at all, you know I don't like to do anything small- I go all out and do everything big. Well, I do that in all areas of my life- not just art. When I get sick, I seem to get the most bizarre and rarest things ever.

It all started the first week of January. I was putting away the dishes and I poked my right index finger on a clean steak knife. A teeny-tiny prick. Itty bitty. I didn't even know I had broken the skin until the next day when a tiny cut appeared. Anyway, that same day I cut it, I had visited an empty warehouse I found with an old player piano where I busted out a beautiful ballad. Okay, I just pounded on the keys and then stole some vintage bottles that were on it. It was filthy in there, but oh-so-cool.

I thought nothing more about the cut or the warehouse. That was a Sunday. Monday rolled around and I noticed the cut was a little swollen, really red, and hurting really badly. By Wednesday, it was not getting better at all. I started my new job that day, and it was just not fun being there with a sore finger and I got thrown to the dogs on my first day of work. But I hadn't seen anything yet compared to what was about to happen! That Friday I woke up and my finger was literally the size of my head. Literally.

Okay, I am exaggerating. But it was HUGE. HUGE I tell you! And PAINFUL!! Oh my gosh, I seriously wanted to cut my finger off it hurt so bad. I went to the doctor who gave it a little slice, drained it, and sent me on my way with a couple prescriptions. I thought I would be good to go...oh no. Sunday morning comes around and it is even bigger, redder and has more blisters and hurts to high heavens! I returned to the doctor hoping she would have a simple solution. Ha! This is what happened that day:

Prescribed more pills and was now up to 7 pills a day
Tetanus shot to the left arm
Six, count 'em SIX, shots to the finger. Or was it 7? Good gosh, I can't even remember. It was A LOT, okay?
A shot in the hip (OHMYGOSHNEVERAGAIN)
And another shot for good measure

Needless to say, I was not a happy camper. But I still remained pretty positive!

I began wearing my red hoodie everywhere and calling myself A.T. repeating "ooooucccchhhh, ouuucccchh!! and "A.T. phone hooommmmee."I love E.T. and I had to exploit this.

It was still all kinda funny at this point! I mean, it hurt like heck, but who doesn't wanna look like E.T!

That was Sunday. I returned to work on Monday and Tuesday with my alien finger, and it was kind of miserable, but I got my co-workers to start talking like E.T. so it was still fun. THEN, it got worse. Again! What?! How can it be getting worse! I had 9 shots! I am taking 7 pills a day! I am loading this ointment crap on my finger every hour!

So that is when the big guns were busted out, and I was sent to a specialist. Quirkiest darn man I have ever met! I had a hard time keeping up with everything he said, because he talked a million miles a minute and was the oddest fellow ever, unable to stay on track of one thing. You know what he told me though?

"You're not from Ontario, are you?? You look too exotic to be from around here. You look like a California artsy girl!"

I am not sure if somebody prompted him to say that to make me feel better or if it was just my lucky day and he really though that, but either way, it made this whole ordeal worthwhile. Anyways...getting off track here, much like the doctor did. He took one look at it and decided it was not MRSA, which is what I was being treated for. Phew. Sigh of relief. He took another slice (oooouuuuucchhhhh! *Said like E.T.) and told me to stop taking all my meds, stop using the ointments, and instead wanted me to do a 5-day infusion treatment at the hospital.

Woo-hoo! My finger seems to be on the mend, this guy seems to know what he is talking about, and I get to stop taking all those pesky pills. Immediately, we headed to the hospital to start my treatments. Keep in mind, this whole time I had been very optimistic and happy still. And I was even happier, because they gave me numbing stuff for my finger and took off the stupid E.T. cast and I thought I would be able to sew and do photos and art again, finally!

Oh no. Once again, I can't do anything normal and just get a simply IV. As they were prepping me for my IV, the nurses were looking and doing everything they could to find a vein in either of my arms. Unfortunately, my arms are like brittle, little pathetic spaghetti noodles and they just couldn't find any veins. Soooo...my only choice was to have it put in my wrist, right at the bend and where a kajillion nerves are sitting. This wouldn't have been a problem because the pain would be brief, but the IV catheter stays in your body for the entire treatment. So for 5 days, I couldn't even twitch my wrist without wanting to pass out. I mean, it hurt worse than anything had in this entire ordeal!!! If I lifted my arms the tiniest bit or moved a finger it was beyond painful!

I spent 5 days on the couch doing nothing. It was not fun to say the least. I was bored, missing my art, cleaning and everything else. That day of having it put in and experiencing the pain was the first time I got really down and sad about it all and the next few days were pretty rough.

FINALLY, this Monday I returned to the hospital for my last infusion and a follow-up with the specialist. The catheter was removed and while I was incredibly bruised and sore...it felt so freakin' awesome. It still hurts, but it is nothing now.

I saw the crazy, awesome doctor again that day. Turns out, I had a staph infection that I most likely got from my doing my little piano rendition. Don't play dirty pianos, kids!

But the reason it never healed? I am allergic to Neosporin! The ointment I was prescribed had the same elements and that is why it was spreading and just getting worse...the more imflamed it got...the more I added. Thus making it a vicious cycle! I have always used that since I am prone to accidents, but I guess it was just not cutting it anymore and turned against me!

But, I am back to my normal, happy self again. My hands are free of IV cathaters, needles, and big stupid wraps! I had to return to work the next day so I have not had much time to craft or get caught up, but I am looking forward to it! And my new job is going MUCH better now. :)

But I will never forget my days as A.T. And I learned some valuable lessons.

Be careful, be watchful and aware of your own body, and E.T. is adorable.

2012 Project List

Hello everybody! How is your first Monday of the new year going? Today was pretty much my last full day of freedom. I have tomorrow off, but I will be spending the day getting ready to start my new job. So tonight is my last late night watching tv and lounging. After that, it is back to business of commissions and Wednesday is my first official day of my new job! Nervous!

I noticed a lot of people are participating in different craft challenges- 50 projects in a year, 365 crafts- one for every day of the year, etc. I don't want to commit to any one of those since I have no idea what is coming this year. With this new job and aiming for Disney and a California move, my future is unclear!

But there are a few things I know for sure I would like to make and I thought I would lay them out here! :)

1. Haunted Mansion Doll House

I have already started one of these actually! I bought a plastic dollhouse for 4 bucks at a thrift store and my dad sand-blasted and painted it black for me. I have it about 75% completed with furniture, wall paper, paint, etc. I for sure want to finish it now and it is the first thing I will start when I get my last swaps and commissions out this month. I can't wait!

2. Halloween Costume

I know it is a little early to be thinking about Halloween, but you know me- Halloween is always on my mind! And I hate how every year October rolls around and I am either left scrambling to make my costume or disappointed in myself that I didn't make something much earlier and left to wear a mediocre store-bought costume.

I would really love to be this version of Alice from Alice: Madness Returns. I am not sure my sewing skills are up to a dress like this, but man it would be amazing! If I don't end up making this, I am starting my costume asap, regardless! I want to be awesome this year!

3. More Nightmare Before Christmas Rooftop Characters

Making Jack and Zero was just so incredibly fun. My dad and I have decided we want to continually work on this project and add as many things as we can.

Oogie is first on the list.

4. A TARDIS Cabinet

I really want to make a TARDIS replica. Even if it is just a small cabinet or full size one, I want to build or reconstruct one. I do have a very large 2 door TV cabinet that is actually the perfect size and shape for a TARDIS. Unfortunately, Kevin bought a new tv and it is an inch too big for it! I may still use it for this project and save it for later. (It is being stored in my old bedroom at the parents house since we have no use or room for it at the moment.)

I WILL build my own TARDIS eventually, though!

5. An Alice in Wonderland Installment for my Planter

Ever since this my husband and I moved in together, the front of our "apartment" has been heavily decorated to the fullest extent possible. Well, this week, I took it all down and the place looks so boring and bare!!

So now I am brainstorming and I would like to do an Alice in Wonderland installment/scene in my planter.

I have been collecting pieces already- I want a little tea party table, banners, a door, a chandelier and some words in the window. Of course I will be screwing al the tea party stuff onto the table and the table into the ground. :)

6. T-Shirt Quilt

I have had a ton of t-shirts saved for a quilt for the longest time. This year, it is getting done!

Basically, that is it for my personal projects. As far as little things go, I don't have a desire to make much else for myself besides an occasional bag when I see cute fabric I cannot resist and get tired of my current bag.
(*I love side-sling bags and like to change them often!)

I promised myself I would not make myself any more plushes. I have way too many! If I do make any that I cannot part with, I made a deal with myself I have to sale one that I already have or donate it to something. :)

As for the rest of my projects and what I will be doing craft-wise? Since I am not doing swaps this year, all projects will be going into my shop!
I still have lots of wands and I plan to do another batch soon to get some more variation. I have 4 big plushes to finish and sell, and I would like to make many more big, medium and small plushes. Since I finally learned how make purses and bags, I plan to make several of those as I find fabrics I like. Plus other random things- paintings, mixed media art, maybe some digital art PDF, files.

So expect to see my store stock increase greatly!

New Year Resolutions

I am not the type to make specific resolutions. It just doesn't work for me to be so detailed, because I lose sight of things or get overwhelmed. I do however, have a few general resolutions this year, that I thought I would share.

-Mostly for my own good, so I remember to stick to them. ;)

1. No more swapping.

I am giving up craftster swaps and I will be participating in very few- if any- personal swaps.

Not for any bad reasons or anything. I have made some amazing friends and received wonderful gifts in swaps. This is just for my own well-being. I have 5 personal long overdue ones I am finishing up this week, and after that I will just not be doing them. I have a new job I am starting so my time will be limited more than it has in a long time.

Most importantly, Kevin and I are saving up to move away from here and hopefully to California so I can pursue my dream more seriously so I need to save every penny I make!

Swapping gets spending with the supplies and postage! And I just cleaned my house for 4 days straight and I have WAAAAAAYYYY too much stuff, so it is just a good time for a break.

2. Back to regular blogging.

I lost sight of my blog back in October when things got hectic! It was just impossible to keep up with it when I was doing so much in October before the trip and when I returned from Dinseyland, things got even crazier. I had a CRAZY amount of Christmas commissions and I just simply couldn't blog along side everything else.

But now that life is getting back to normal, I plan to catch up on all my projects that I didn't get to post and then to regularly keep up with new projects. I also want to gain new followers so stay tuned for giveaways!

3. Staying focused and not getting in over my head.

I learned a valuable lesson this year on taking on too many projects. I enjoyed making all my Christmas commissions, and of course I am incredibly thankful for it all. But I was left soooooo exhausted by the end, and I have never been more burned out in my life!

I have always had several (we are talking up to 50 projects) going at a time. This year, I will limit myself. I will focus on only one personal project at a time instead of several, and I will only allow myself a certain number of commissions at a time. Not swapping will help this. I never want to feel so tired and sick of creating again!

Basically, those are my main goals for the year. I want to enjoy this year to the fullest extent! I am going to be working on my final swaps and commissions this month and the rest of my time will be dedicated to a few fun personal projects and mostly re-stocking my etsy shop.

I want to keep up here and reactivate my flickr account because I miss being on there.

I will unfortunately, be pulling away from Craftster quite bit. But that is an entirely different story! Just a personal choice that I can explain to you later if you want to ask or email me about it.

Ahh...new year new beginnings!

What a year 2011 was.

I can honestly say that I did not have high hopes for 2011. 2010 was so incredible. Engaged at an AFI concert. 10 hour road-trip to Seattle to see one of my heroes in concert. Not only did I see Meat Loaf, I was allowed to go in the front row and show him my gifts. I was married in September at the most amazing wedding I could have dreamed of. And finally, the year ended with a honeymoon in Disney World and The Wizarding World of Harry Potter.

Amazing. Absolutely amazing.

All this said, I did not think 2011 could top 2010. Can you blame me?

But guess what...

it was JUST AS AMAZING.

In 2011 I had my most successful business year ever. I sold more products and commissions than I ever have since starting this little venture and I completed more items in 3 months than I have ever created in my whole life. My side business, A.R.T. Photography started as a small hobby and turned into a full job and I have come so far and learned so much! I went to concerts, participated in craft fairs. And then the most exciting part of all, my lifelong dream of seeing Disneyland at Halloween time came true! I saw the Holiday Haunted Mansion and crossed it off the bucket list (although I plan to return and see it as many years as possible!). And while I saw one hero in 2010, I saw my other in 2011 by visiting Tim Burton's art exhibit at the LACMA in L.A.

This year was just so The most important thing of all in this amazing year is how inspired it left me. Seeing Tim Burton's art in person changed me. It pushed me into finally pursuing my own dreams. Between that and being at Disneyland and feeling the magic in my bones, I came home a new person. It has already inspired so much- Jack was a result of the trip!

(Jack and Zero made the front page of the paper on Christmas day, by the way!!)

Anyways, what I am saying here, is 2012 has a lot of potential. I feel like I can accomplish as much as I set out to do. Of course, that is only if I work towards it.

I have applied for Disney and while I have no idea what will come of it or if anything will at all, I will work as hard as I can towards my goal of one day working for the company. Disney gave me my first glimpse of how magical life can truly be, if you just let it. Since then, I have strived to bring magic to life through my art.

And now it is time to take that a step further and try and bring magic to life for the world.

2012 is a time for new beginnings, new hopes and new dreams (or old dreams in my case)-

either way, this is a new year and anything is possible!

I wish you all the best for 2012 and that you all experience a little bit of magic!

Eureka!!! This year, Christmas will be Ours!!!!

Okay, you are probably wondering for real, what this is!

First, let me warn you that this is going to be INCREDIBLY IMAGE HEAVY. Just warning you. Sorry.

I went to Disneyland for my first wedding anniversary. It was a lifelong dream come true- I went specifically to see the Haunted Mansion Holiday where they completely redo the Haunted Mansion attraction with The Nightmare Before Christmas decor. (My favorite movie of all time and what inspired me to start my art.) The ride is made to look like Jack crashed into the mansion and took it over with his idea of Christmas. I also saw the Tim Burton exhibit while there (my lifelong hero) so when I came home, my head was reeling with ideas. I felt just like Jack! I had discovered a new world with brilliant imagery and pastimes and people. I was just so incredibly inspired and intrigued and ready to burst with ideas.

Upon my return home, just like Jack, I knew I needed to share all my wonderful experiences with my tiny town and bring them some of the magic I got to experience!

I started off just decorationg the inside of my house as a tribute to the Holiday Haunted Mansion by combining my Halloween and gothic decorations with my Christmas Decorations. I redid my entire living room and put away all items that were unrelated. I mean, everything was replaced. Nothing was left out unless it fit that theme.

(Ignore the empty frames-waiting on wedding prints i the mail!)

While in Disneyland, I saw birdcages in a shop with bone arms coming out and loved them. I made my own version for my living room.

After the inside was covered (there is more, but I will spare you) I decorated the outside- we live in an auto-shop so I don't have a yard or anything cool to decorate and cover. Just a planter and a store front wall. So I had to get creative with my tiny space and once again, I combined my Halloween decorations and Christmas decorations. Tombstones and candy canes and a big tree. Perfect!

But of course that was not enough. Ohhhh nnoooo. That is when I busted out the big guns: my Pop.

If you saw my wedding post from last year, you learned that my Pop is absolutley amazing. I mean, beyond amazing. Worthy of building movie sets and masterpieces, and I am not just saying that because he is my Pop. This post will prove this.

We set forth to build a Jack and Zero- that was my plan and desire all along from the moment I saw Jack in Disneyland. And...we did.

I just want to give proper credit where it is due first of all- my Pop is almost fully responsible for this all. I just helped design and brainstorm and sew mostly. But my Pop is the true artist behind this.

We started with just Jack. We had a ton of plans, but we decided it would be better to just see what happened and go one project at a time. We completed him last weekend. And I am in love with Jack more-so than ever, now.

Jack stands is somewhere around 12 feet long. If he was standing up straight he would be taller! He is huge! For comparison, here is my husband standing below him. Kevin is over 6 feet tall.

Here is kind of a basic rundown:

-Started with wire and steel to make his base. Some of the pieces and joints are welded together, some are besn and shaped.
-PVC pipe was used for the neck, arms and legs.
-Body is cardboard and tape.
-Head is carved and sanded from styrofoam.

This part was all his doing after we both figured out the measurements and layout. He is built to scale of how tall he would be if he were to really visit our world! I was very insistent that we keep this as accurate as possible. Luckily, I am this way because I inherited from my father. He became more obsessive over the details than me in the end! Next came the sewing.

I just kind of winged all of that like I always do. It was really easy actually. I put some black stitching around the sleeves to give that extra Nightmare touch, as if Sally herself sewed his suit up.

My dad carved his hands from wood 2X4 scrap piece, as well as each tooth. The teeth were whittled down from the wood pieces with a point at the top of each one to be shoved into Jack's mouth. We worked together, and my mom even jumped in and helped sew, so it was quite the family affair. By the time we finished him, it was already late in the month, so we decided to scrap Zero. Until a couple days later when my dad informed me he was making him too.

I thought we were done after this. I was tired and had a lot of work to finish up and thought Jack was plenty.

That said, Zero is all on my him. He was kind of a Christmas gift to me. Awesome, right? I know...I am so lucky. If you flash back to my wedding, my gift from my Pop was a giant Mad Hatter's hat sculpture! This time I got Zero from him! He made him in a day.

Zero is hanging from the roof in a way that he dangles and hovers right near Jack. His nose lights up at night via a hidden plug in near the end of tail. My husband and I have been adding presents and lights each day as we find stuff and we have been getting a lot of stoppers. It has seriously just been a blast!

I am so thankful to have such wonderful parents- my Pop for jumping right into the project and helping my dream come to life, my mom for helping us and helping me sew when I was behind on my work, and my husband for letting me do whatever I want to our place!

Sorry for such a gigantic post with so much explanation and so many pictures. But I hope you enjoyed it! Thanks for looking and Scary Christmas!

Roller Derby Girls!

I think they are so cool!

I did these as part of my giveaway (she chose the theme of the one she won, and bought another for her friend) and I had so much fun!

Truth be told, this is the closest I will ever come to the sport.

At less than 5 feet tall and the weight of most children, I would just get killed.

Squished.

Beaten.

Let's just say it would not be pretty.

But at least I get to create tiny 3 inch Derby girls!

Doctor Horrible! Big and Tiny Versions!

I did a personal swap with the amazing Audio from Craftster. She had requested a Doctor Horrible plush similar to the Harry Potter plush I made my mom for Mother's Day.

I must admit, I have never seen Doctor Horrible but I enjoyed making him! I need to watch the dang thing. It is pretty short, right? Alas, it will have to be saved for the New Year along with everything else with my crazy schedule right now. I still have a lot to do before Christmas!

Tiny Werewolf!

The Doctor and The Dalek Take on Disney

Okay, finally, I get to share my Dalek and Doctor costumes! Since Kevin and I worked so hard to get to Disneyland, we decided we need to do it big, and pay the extra money for the Halloween Trick or Treat party. Aaaannnnddd then we decided we need to dress up. You have to dress up at a Disneyland Halloween Party! Because of my obsession with Doctor Who and lack of time, we went with an easy but oh-so-fun Doctor and Dalek Combo!

Kevin's costume was easy- I found the jacket at Goodwill for 2 bucks, I already owned the Sonic Screwdriver, and he had the white shirt and red tie and has awesome hair for the part. lol. We couldn't find blue pants, so he just wore black pants and his black converse, but we do plan to get him a full suit to do this again. The glasses are the dollar ones from Target. We just busted out the lenses.

For my costume, I had to do a little more work, but not much. It was really simple! Basically, I made an apron to go over a dress.

I bought a blue dress at Ross for 12 bucks. When I brought it home, I realized I really loved it and would wear it to parties and such alone if I could. So instead of sewing things onto the dress I just made a very single silver sash. Just one panel folded and sewed then turned inside out. Easy! Then I bought a roll of tulle like stuff from the wedding supplies at Joann's. I cut out five panels of the same thing, sewed hems on every end, then sewed the panels onto the sash all side be side. I put them all in the middle to leave tying room for the sash.

After that, with the help of Positori and her AMAZING Dalek Dress as inspiration, I bought clear ornaments from Joanns. The only difference I did that I have seen from other posts is that instead of spray painting the outside of the balls with a few coats and sealants for shine and protection, I just sprayed the inside of the balls with silver paint. It worked great! It made them protected from scratching, and left them shiny still. I traced the spheres onto tagboard, cut them out and then used Seal All to glue the rims to the tagboard. Then I used hot glue and Seal All to glue them onto the tulle. Not one came loose so it worked great!

The costumes were a huge hit in the park! We had people taking pictures with us and we even met a few other Doctor's and a Tardis Girl. And the Dalek met her hero, Jack Skellington!

I can't believe I forgot to post this! I made this back in September- September 27th to be exact. You know why? That day is Meat Loaf's birthday! You all know how much I love him so I won't go into that. lol.

I have already made quite a few large and tiny "classic" (frilly shirt, suspenders, red scarf, etc) Meat Loaf plushes, so I wanted to do something different. Since I have been in a Halloween crafting frenzy, I decided Eddie from theRocky Horror Picture Show would be the perfect choice!

Skeletons, Skeletons, Skeletons!

Skeletons seem to be a common recurring theme in my work lately! Go figure. :P

My husband had a staff party this week with a gift exchange. They drew names and he needed to buy a gift for a girl we both know and like. He was struggling with what to get her since she is into unique things and at the last minute asked me to make her something. She bought a Day of the Dead painting from me, so I thought I would give her a plush to match. She is about 11 inches tall. :)

This is a tiny 3 inch day of the dead plush from a Halloween swap of Craftster.

Remember the Skellie Buddies I made in October? I made 4 more for a friend in a personal swap. These ones are much bigger though. They are about 8-9 inches tall and wide. Very squishy and lovable!

I put the initials of each girl receiving one on the butts! :) (I had to laugh that is spelled READ!)

I am sure there will be plenty more skeleton plushes in the future!

Christmas Ninni!

I mentioned earlier in a post that for my Holiday Ninni monster swap I had started with a Santa Jack Ninni plush, but discarded the idea. Well, I had the basic pattern made and I didn't want to waste it. So I turned her into a Holiday Monster for my friend, Stephanie. Voila! Simple but cute!

Ninnified Jack and Sally Set!

Craftster often hosts different themed Ninni swaps. What's a ninni, you ask? A ninni is a little monster plush based on a very basic pattern seen here. As you can see the pattern is quite simple and you can be so creative with it!

I joined a Holiday ninni swap and my partner and I were specifically joined together because we both adore The Nightmare Before Christmas. That said, I sort of ran with that theme!

I started with a Santa Jack Skellington Ninni, but I just was not pleased with him, and then I saw my striped fabric and ended up with a Jack Ninni monster! Then I knew he needed Sally, so I cut and pieced her dress pattern together in the shape of the ninni pattern using felt. After that, the swap required one small crafted item, so it was only natural the Zero was born. Zero has a string so he can be hung on the tree as an ornament. I wish I would have made a pattern so I could make myself one! Oh well, I am sure I can figure it out again!

Cal, My Newest Little Buddy

Okay, I promised to show at least a few things that I have made recently. So I thought I would start with one of my favorite items, that I actually made for myself. (Shame on me! o: )

So, if you have been following me for awhile, you already know that I really love Tim Burton and Walt Disney. Along with Meat Loaf, those three men are my greatest heroes in life and have helped shape me into the person and artist I am today. And then you already know that when I found out that the Tim Burton exhibit was in L.A. and was ending in October, my husband and I decided it was time to make a life-long dream of mine come true of going to Disneyland at Halloween time (I have also mentioned many time that Halloween is my favorite ever). We worked our butts off and ate peanut butter sandwiches for months so we could afford it all, and we ended up going to the last week of October to celebrate our first wedding anniversary.

It was the most amazing trip ever. Ever.

I came home so incredibly inspired by all the things I had seen and experienced. I have not had a chance to properly report all the amazing details. Maybe in the New Year I will do a special post and share some of my photos! Anyway, tt was like an overload of everything I love up close and personal. I ended up spending a great deal of time crying because I was so overwhelmed. Happy tears of course!

When I was at the LACMA, a little character popped into my head as I stared at all of Tim Burton's art. He stayed with me the entire trip, popping into my mind at every place we visited. And then when we returned home, he kept nagging at me to make him come alive. I was extremely busy with catching up on work and everything, but finally one very late night, I just had to push my other work aside for a moment and sew him into a plush 3D representation. I couldn't stand it anymore! And so, Cal was born!

Cal is named after California, in honor of everything that happened on that magical trip to L.A! His overall design is inspired by the drawings of Tim Burton who was my first style influence, but I still tried to make him my own. He wears Mickey Mouse ears to show my love for Walt Disney himself, the parks, the trip, and just my overall devotion to Mickey Mouse and all things Disney. I could have chosen any monster for him to be, but I chose a skeleton so he will forever remind me of my special Halloween anniversary trip. And I just love skeletons. The stripes are in honor of Tim Burton as well. His ears are actually a little removable hood that ties around his chin!

His name is also Cal, because my husband and I were so enamored with everything, we are saving up our money and planning to move to California so I can pursue my lifelong dreams. Lastly, because this was such a life-changing trip, he inspired our Christmas cards this year!

Hi everybody!!

Whenever I say that or read I, I hear it in my head like Doctor Nick from the Simpsons says it.

Anyway, I have been a TERRIBLE blogger lately. And for that I apologize. If you have been following me on my facebook at all, you know I have been beyond swamped. I mean, RIDICULOUSLY swamped. I feel like I have done nothing but wake up, sew, sew, sew, paint, assemble, sew, sew, sleep for a couple hours, repeat.

Don't get me wrong, I am SO incredibly grateful for all the orders and everything...I just bit off a little too much. Next year, I will limit my Christmas orders. On the bright side, I can almost see an end to my list. Almost. Right now, I am taking a small break to post at least a few projects as a reward and break to myself.

Right now, I have something exciting to show you! Awhile back, I announced that I would do a giveaway on Facebook if I made it to 500 fans. And by the end of the day I had over 500! So FINALLY, I have it posted!

I am Back! And in Need of Help!!

Hello everybody!

Long time, no post! I sincerely apologize for that. Since coming home from Disneyland, I have been working non-stop.

I picked up tons of photo sessions, already had a ton of custom orders to get to and now have a TON more to do before Christmas. I have been working like mad, and unfortunately, my blogging has been neglected! I promise I will update it as soon as I have a moment to breathe.

I am so incredibly grateful for all the orders and support, but feeling a little overwhelmed. I think as soon as I get to a halfway point of being done on projects, I will feel loads better! For now I am going to keep on trucking.

I will say for now, Disneyland and the Tim Burton Exhibit were AMAZING. The trip was life changing in more ways than one. I promise to expand on that in the near future. I have some big changes coming in my life, all created by this single trip. It prompted me to finally find the courage to move forward in following my lifelong dreams. Exciting! Stay tuned for that. For now, back to sewing and photo editing!

Also, one last thing. My friend is in need of some help. I am normally not one to beg for something, but this is a special case. My friend's adorable daughter wants nothing more than the Monster High Doll "Abbey Bominable." She earned all A's on her very first report card and wants it above all else for Christmas. She is the sweetest child and totally deserves it. Not knowing it would be such a difficult doll to find, my friend promised it to her daughter, and now is going nuts trying to get ahold of one. They are nowhere to be found!! They are selling on Ebay for huge sums of money and it is just not an option at this point in time.

If ANYBODY sees one at a store for the normal 20 or so dollars, if you would be willing to pick it up for me, I would be forever grateful! I would paypal you the full amount plus the shipping cost to get it to Utah. And I would even offer a custom plush (to be made after Christmas if you could do this for me!)

If you see one and don't mind doing me this favor, I seriously will cry for joy and you will make one sweet, totally-deserving little girl, the happiest kid on Earth! I have checked 3 towns now, and no luck so far.

Georgia the Graveyard Ghost

Georgia was a peculiar child, with some very interesting quirks.

Taking a fancy to the strangest things, she always wore a constant smirk.

Dolls and teddy bears were not her thing, in fact she really didn’t like toys.

Graveyards, scary stories, bats, and skeletons were in truth her absolute joys.

Because of her oddities and fascinations, Georgia was seen as an outsider.

You see, it was not acceptable to spend your days in a graveyard playing with spiders.

While she never wanted to change, she often felt awfully alone,

In fact, she desperately longed for a friend to call her very own.

But this was not going to happen because whenever somebody came near,

The moment Georgia stood up to say hello the person left screaming so loud the whole town could hear.

To help pass her time little Georgia loved reading ghost stories in her favorite cemetery.

To her, ghosts in sheets and clanky chains were not even scary.

Finally though, she wondered why she was so weird…

Why did she love the things so dear, that everybody else feared?

And then one fateful day, while strolling the graveyard that seemed so desolate and bleak,

She peeked down at her reflection in a pond and gave a gruesome shriek!

For so long she wanted to see a specter that maybe she could befriend,

But what she didn’t realize was SHE was a ghost that had already met her end!

Georgia was a ghost and she didn’t even realize it-

SHE was the one haunting the cemetery and she was the one that everyone despises!

Once she came upon this amazing innovation,

She was relieved and filled with new sensations.

Georgia could stir up mischief with her “wooo’s” and clanking chains,

However she still had an emptiness that was causing her great pain.

She needed a friend, somebody to help her haunt the grounds.

She realized a lifetime of pranks and laughter is pointless and suddenly frowned.

Just as she thought her afterlife was doomed,

Down swooped a bat also in need of a friend she presumed.

And so it was settled, Georgia was incredibly content,

With her best friend Dimitri, her eternal life would be well spent.

This was made for my friend, Paulette. If you are familiar with craftster, you know her as Craftewoman. She makes INCREDIBLE stuff. I mean, AWESOME. She asked to do a swap with me for Halloween because she was inspired to make a Victorian ghost girl doll and knew I would love one.

Of course I jumped at the chance to swap with her again. The funny thing is, her doll she made me inspired me to to start sewing this style of doll, which is now going to her. Full circle, eh? :)

I'm Sorry I have Neglected You All!

So. I had big plans for this blog throughout the month of October. Seriously. I had daily posts mapped and planned out. I have a ton of Halloween projects to share. I still have pictures from the October Faire to share. I had planned on doing an October daily photo challenge. I was going to be so awesome.

But you know what happened? I GOT BOMBARDED. This month has been incredibly productive and I have gotten more custom orders in one month than I have in my whole life. Every moment of every day has been filled with sewing, drawing, assembling, and just making things. I got custom Halloween plush orders, custom wands, costumes, etc. And I had already committed to 4 Halloween swaps so I had to finish those. While this has all been wonderful and a dream come true, it has also been a bummer that I couldn't execute all my fun blog plans. I also had to nix a Halloween giveaway, unfortunately.

Anyways! I AM caught up with the Halloween custom orders, Halloween swaps and so I can slow down a teeny tiny bit. I have less than one week before I leave for California!

In other news, Kevin (the husband) and I are going to be dressing up for the Disney After-hours party! Kevin will be the Tenth Doctor and his costume is pretty much done and he looks awesome! I am going as a Dalek and I am about 90-95% done with the costume. Tomorrow, I am hoping to finish it up and get a mini photo session in it if I have it done in time.

So, what I am saying here is, please forgive me for not following through on my big talk of the awesome things I said I was going to do on here. I will try to get some things blogged throughout the rest of this week! :)

I wish it was cooler so we actually had leaves. Right now, we are still experiencing hot, summertime weather, and I am ready for it move on. I want all the leaves to fall so the town looks pretty yet haunting, with all the leaves covering the ground in beautiful orange and yellow tones. I want all the leaves to fall so I can fill my planter with them and stick my tombstones in there to let people know I take Halloween seriously. I want the leaves to fall so I can jump in them!

Until then, I will just cover my house in these fake ones. Hurry up cool weather. I need real leaves!

October Photography Challenge!

Day 1: Fall

I have been waiting for this day for quite some time now. October First. Fall is here. Fall is the most wonderful time of the year. I absolutely love everything about it. Apple cider, caramel apples, crisp, cool weather (someday hopefully), and beautiful sunsets. But there is something I associate above all else with fall, and I am sure you all know what that is. HALLOWEEN, of course!!

In my heart, it is Halloween all year round. But when it is officially October and fall has arrived, I feel like everything is perfect and right in this world. Jack-o-lanterns and tombstones start popping up in yards everywhere, every other TV channel is airing a spooky special, and for once, my house looks normal as it is littered in Halloween decor in every nook and cranny.

This year while waiting for fall to arrive, there has been one thing on my mind and one thing only: CALIFORNIA! In 24 days I will be living out some very important life-long dreams. This fall, I will finally see Disneyland at Halloween time and the Haunted Mansion Holiday Nightmare Before Christmas takeover ride. I have been literally dreaming about doing this for years. To top it off, Tim Burton has an exhibit in California, and I will his art in person. Tim Burton is my Halloween hero, the person who has influenced everything in me from the things that I make down to the clothes that I wear, and I will see his creepy art at Halloween time. Goosebumps, I tell ya'- I just got goosebumps.

October is Here!!

It is October!! The best month of the entire year! I was going to post everyday, and I already missed day one. Hmph!

But I have a very worthy excuse. Yesterday was the day I have been working up to for a good while now. My hometown holds an October Faire every year, and I have been working my fingers to the bone for my very own Spooky Pooky Creations booth!

The day was extremely fun and successful! It was a great turnout, I saw many old friends, made some new ones, and I even finally got a sun tan! lol. Took me all summer and into the fall to get some tan lines but it finally happened. I also met many people who have seen and recognized my stuff from the internet. That was awesome!

I will be posting what was leftover on Etsy, and I will post all the individual shots of everything plus just more pictures in general from the day on my facebook if anybody is interested! :)

Spooky-Pooky Style Simba!

When I was a kid, I LOVED Lion King and it was one of the first things I obsessed over and began collecting and naking stuff of. I had it all- the shampoo, bath bubbles, toy sets, candy bars, Wonderball toys, Kids/Happy Meal toys, school supplies, Christmas Ornaments, etc. Anything that came out of it, I had to have it. But my most beloved possession of all was my Simba plush. I packed him everywhere and he remained to be my favorite stuffed animal for life and I still leave him on my bed.

Seeing the film again in theaters was incredible. Every old feeling of love, admiration, excitement, awe-inspired, etc came rushing right back to me. The movie was just as good as it was back then, and it still stands the test of time. It such a brilliant movie in story-telling, animation, art, music- everything. A masterpiece, if you will. And watching it with my husband for our first wedding anniversary made it all the more special.

I had goosebumps almost the entire time I was watching the movie.

When we returned home, I wanted to make something Lion King related. I was just so inspired, and I ended up not being able to sleep from it.

And so, I ended up with this:

He turned out pretty cute, and he just sort of happened. I love it when that takes place. I put him on my bed with old Simba and it was then that I realized just how worn and torn he is. :(

But I just remind myself he is not old and scruffy-

He is loved and cherished! And now I have Baby Simba to remind me of my anniversary, my love for the movie and Simba (animated version and stuffed version), my childhood, and to keep inspiring me!

A Year of Adventures, and Many More to Come!

Yesterday, the 25th, I celebrated my first year anniversary with my husband. Can you believe a year has gone by already! Holy crow...I had no idea it would go this fast.

Kevin and I, as I have already mentioned MANY TIMES, are going to California for our celebration. But we still wanted to do something special yesterday. We agreed to no gifts for each other, and that we would just go out and eat dinner or do something simple and save all our money for the trip.

We ended up driving out of town (since Denny's is our nicest restaurant. Not even exaggerating.) and we ate at Olive Garden then saw the Lion King in 3D. It was a pretty relaxed day, but it was wonderful just being able to spend time with Kevin and watch such a beloved movie from my past.

(The Lion King started my obsessive nature.)

Even though we said no gifts, the night before the big day, I didn't feel right about not having anything to commemorate the event. So I gathered some supplies I had present in my studio, and a little over an hour later I had this.

It has a little Skeleton couple and a Tea Party scene inside. The Halloween and Wonderland theme is taken directly from the actual wedding theme and is in tribute to our Halloween trip. I put a black cat on top to signify a Halloween inspired Cheshire Cat, and to represent our own Halloween Black kitten we got in October right after the wedding last year. And there is a Mickey Head in the top corner to represent the anniversary trip. Luckily, since I love all these things so much I have lots of supplies on hand! :)

It is nothing too special, but I was glad I had at least something to show for our big day. First anniversary's are a big deal to me, and the day was so special!

Kevin also broke our deal and bought me a couple gifts! Cheater...although I really am not complaining at all. ;)

First, a collection of all the greatest Horror Movies. We are going to set up my old tv in the living room, decorate it with creepy stuff and play these movies all day every day through October. I will take a picture to show you the set-up!

My parents gave us a gift too- travel pillows for our trip! We wanted these sooooo badly on our trip home from Florida and coveted all the people on the plane who had one. Such a perfect, useful gift!

And Kevin also bought me a pretty awesome Pre-order Special of The Lion King! After discussing the movie all day, watching it again, then talking about it all the way home, I was too inspired too sleep and made the tiny Simba that night. :) (His post is being written at the same time as this.)

So, overall, it was an excellent day. I love Kevin and this first year was amazing. Thank you to everybody that has been along with me in this crazy ride and to all of you who have supported and encouraged me. You are all so amazing!

One Tiny Book Swap

I just completed a One Tiny Book Swap on Craftster and though I would share what I made.

I was going to wait until October, but I should have plenty to post that month!

My partner was the lovely SuzannahAshley, who ROCKS. She has awesome plushes and paintings and we love all the same things, so I was stoked.

She listed skulls, black cats, fall, silliness, and few other things in her preferred themes so I kinda just ran with it. It turned out NOTHING like I had planned, but she liked it and I was very happy with the end results.

Any Disney/Traveling Advice for Me, Anybody?

Okay, so like I was saying earlier, my husband and I are really going to California for Halloween!

Words cannot even begin to describe how excited I am.

I know that is a cliche to say...but it is just so true. It is all I think/talk/dream about. I already have my suitcase out and have been adding and buying a few things here and there for the trip.

Since our Honeymoon to Florida was so recent, I have a MUCH better idea of what to bring. But I was wondering if any of you had any tips or suggestions. Especially those who travel often, and ESPECIALLY anybody in California.

Right now, my number one priority and what we will be headed over to Boise to find are a good pair of shoes. I am going to actually spend some money and not go for a bargain buy like my normal habits lead me to. I wore converse for our 7 days in Disney World.

Dumbest. Idea. Ever.

So a good pair of athletic shoes are at the top of my list.

Second priority are water bottles, which we already bought. And we will be buying some protein and granola bars and things that will keep us going and our energy up. I can't afford the snacks and Kevin is one of those guys who needs constant feeding.

I also made a little pouch with a hairbrush, comb, floss, chap stick, gum, bobby pins and hair-ties, a headband, sunglasses etc. Stuff I always wanted but never seemed to have at Disney World. Or stuff I came with and lost, (hair stuff mostly), so I want to be prepared for this kind of stuff fully. Anything else I should put with that?

A hat. A couple hats. I didn't bring a hat and I REALLY wanted and needed one in Disney World.

Any suggestions or tips on what else to bring? Any of you Californians have some words of wisdom for me? I am not sure what kind of clothes to pack. What is the weather like this time of year? Is it still really hot, or cooling down by then?

I will say that I get cold VERY easily.

My style consists of layers. I ALWAYS wear layers.

My most common look:

Leggings, tank top, slouchy shirt on top, and a scarf.

If it's cold in the evenings, I add leg warmers and a cardigan.

Then a jacket if necessary.

Would this work for Cali?

I was thinking I could do this and start off with light layers, and keep adding if it gets cooler.

And I can bring a pair of levis always just in case I get too cold.

What do you guys think?

Anything else I need?

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!

Supernatural Stuffie! Castiel

As you may know, I LOVE the One Tiny Stuffie Swap on Craftster. It is not an overwhelming swap, it's always fun to make a tiny stuffie, and receiving one is awesome too.

This last round, I had a tough one. My partner had some really similar interests, and all but one thing that she listed on her desires are things I have made and love.

But her number one wish was Castiel, from Supernatural.

I have never even seen the show once, so I was not sure if I could pull it off. But she specifically stated it was what she wanted the most, and I knew it had to be done. Luckily, some facebook friends were able to guide me to some good pictures and descriptions of him, and I was able to make this:

I included some stubble on his face and made his tie loose and messy. His wings are attached with velcro so they can be removed. In the end, my partner loved him and I was relieved and please. I don't watch the show but I may have to give it a try after reading some things about it!

This may be my favorite thing I made for the Doctor Who Swap. I don't know...maybe.

She has the CUTEST baby boy ever, so I wanted to make something he could enjoy so along came a Tiny Doctor!

I even put him in Rose decortated bag to be clever. ;)

And the Doctor wouldn't be complete without his TADIS of course!

My partner in the Doctor Who Swap really wanted something to wear...but have you seen those small priority boxes? They are TINY. Aint no way I could fit anything in there, so I made her an applique to sew onto a shirt or sweatshirt herself. She likes the Ood, as do I, and I had really been wanting to make something with an Ood on it. I love how it turned out and need to make one for myself!

She had shown me this image so I printed it onto iron-on fabric to use as a patch as well.

More from the Doctor Who Swap! My partner is expecting, so I really wanted to make something for her that she could use for her baby due pretty soon. I love what I finally settled on. I have ZERO intentions or plans for children

but when it does happen,

totally doing this for my own beh-beh.

I found the onesie and burp cloth at Wal-Mart, and drew the baby myself, then printed it onto iron-on photo paper. I was thrilled with the end results!

Okay, so you all already know I am Doctor Who obsessed, so I am sure you are not surprised that I just participated in a Who swap then.

This one was AWESOME.

It was a "Fill-a-Box" swap, in which you make/buy enough items to fill a small flat-rate box. Those are the only rules- fill it up and make at least one item. Well, much like the TARDIS, my box really was bigger on the inside after some tricky folding and stuffing.

I started out with a Who key chain, complete with the TARDIS key, adipose baby, and some charms that reminded me of The Girl in the Fireplace, my partner's favorite episode.

Next up: Tiny TARDIS!

BUSY!

I have been a horrible blogger lately, but it is all for good reason. I am totally and completely swamped right now. This week, I had photo sessions every single night, which was awesome. I am getting more and more practice with my photography, and making money while doing so. Although, it is also exhausting taking photos, then editing them. But no complaints, really! I am enjoying this new venture completely!

Here are few from one of my favorite sessions, Hailey's Senior Portraits.

I have also been preparing for the October Fair still, and working my hands to the bone. I have what feels like a million hairclips, 12 hand-appliques bags that turned out soooo cute, 12 little skellie plushes, 10 bulletin boards, and some random decorations completed. And I have a new batch of wand supplies all laid out to be made and assembled tomorrow, zombie plushes ready to be sewn, and some bigger plushes if I have time.

THAT is why I am slacking on the blog posts! In other news, Kevin and I bought our Disneyland tickets! It is official now!

We will be there for the full last week of October. I cannot believe I am FINALLY going to see the Haunted Mansion Holiday. I have been dreaming about this for YEARS. Since it very first started, I have longed and ever cried over it. Yes...I am pathetic. That emotional, stereotypical artists fits me to a tee.

We are also going to the LACMA, because Tim Burton's has an art exhibit there-

The very man who inspired and helped largely in making me, Spooky Pooky, Alexzandra Talbot, who I am today!

This is huge for me.

HUGE.

We bought our plane tickets today and at the last minute decided to throw in an extra day and go to Knott's Berry Farm to see

"Knott's Scary Farm."

This will be our anniversary celebration, along with crossing off a few objectives on my list of lifelong dreams.

Speaking of which, this Sunday, I will have officially been married for a year! We are not doing anything as to save money for our trip, but I am trying to squeeze in at least a small gift for that, but we'll see!

Quick Update!

Hi guys! Just wanted to share some things.

First of all, I had an AWESOME day. My mom and I were in need of a small getaway. She just started work again (at an Elementary School) and was stressed over getting everything in order, and I have MAJOR cabin fever. We went to Boise and kicked off our day at Art in the Park. There were several things I really enjoyed but number one was an artist I met who I share so many similarities with not only in our interests, but our styles are way similar as well. He is much more skilled though I think, but he is awesome. He is Justin Hillgrove, and you should definitely check him out! Just to give you a hint of why I liked him so much, there were some of his most common themes: Alice in Wonderland, Yetis, skeletons, cthulhu, zombies, Harry Potter and monster. Need I say more? This is the thing that caught my attention and literally ran across the park to see it!

After that, we went to the mall where I picked up some more sweatshirts to applique and decorate for my trip to Disneyland, and then we went thrifting! I LOVE thrift store shopping! I made a hual of Halloween stuff! It was so much fun getting such awesome decorations and craft stuff for SO CHEAP.

Lastly, today I made it to over 400 fans on Facebook! I plan to do a giveaway in honor of this during October. I may up the ante if I can get some more blogger followers. So start spreading the word! ;)

Another Wand and some Input Needed!

Just another wand! This one was for Reagan, the same little girl who the zombie panda went to. It is in her room colors. I am currently making TONS more wands for the Halloween October Fair I am going to be in. I think I may even make some Halloween themed ones. Do you think those would go over well? Or should I just stick to Wizard and Hogwarts style ones?

Spooky Pooky in Wonderland Doll

So, I have been in love with making dolls now, and I really wanted another one for my studio after makings more and more for my friends and family as gifts (yet to be shared.) So what would be more fitting than to make my logo of me as Spooky Pooky in Wonderland?

She has all the details, curly hair which I curled by wetting yarn and wrapping it around a dowel, adding hairspray, then baking it in the oven. Her bow has a tiny cheshire cat detail, and her apron has a skull just like my drawn logo. I love how she turned out, and she sits on my desk with other Alice lovelies and my collection of Alice in Wonderland books!

I have many more dolls to share soon! Just waiting for them to be receive and for Halloween. :)

Zombie Panda!

I was going to save this post for October, but I have shared him everywhere else, so I will go ahead and share him now. One of my first and favorite Craftster friends commissioned a Zombie Panda plush for her daughter's birthday. I was super excited, because Panda's are in my top 3 favorite animals, I LOVE zombifying things, and Kasey and her girls have come to be some of my favorite people!

Her daughter loved it, so I am just thrilled. Here she is with "Zomb." Isn't she just a beautiful little girl, too? :)

My Very Own Doctor, Just Like Rose!

My name is Spooky Pooky, and this is the story of Torchwood, the last story I'll ever tell. This is the story of how I died.

Okay...I am not dead. But I am very sad, because last week I finished the story of Doctor 10. As you all know, I have fallen in love with David Tennant like so many others have and will and I just don't know how I am going to go on without him!

Because I was finishing his run, after finishing part one of The Last of the Time Lords, I decided I needed my own Doctor to watch PArt 2 with me.

And here we have my very own Tenth Doctor. Just like Rose, I get my own Doctor to cuddle! lol. He is about 10-12 inches tall:)

He has been hanging out with me ever since as I mourn the loss of Doctor Ten. But good news is, Matt Smith is pretty fun. Just not hunky.

More Doctor Who! Another Tenth Rag Doll!

Hello guys! I am behind on blogging! Way behind! I have been working my tail-end off on Halloween stuff for the Octoberfaire my town holds every year, as well as swap packages, commissions, and prizes. I am sorry for the absence!

I am going to be saving my Halloween goods to post for October. You guys know that is my favorite month and I want to do a post a day. I am also hoping to find another monthly photo-challenge for that month, that is Halloween themed, (or I can just make it Halloween themed!). For now, I have several Doctor Who projects as it is HEAVY on my brain. I finished season 4 and finally saw the regeneration. Matt Smith is fun, but he is just not my Doctor 10. I am only 6 episodes into Season 5 though, and he is growing on me. I just won't be in love with this Doctor...which makes my husband happy!

I made another Doctor Ten rag doll, this time in his brown pin-striped suit. I painted the stripes myself which was very terrious. Amazing Short Film!

Hey everybody! I normally don't stray from my regular blogging subjects of my art projects, but I had something I wanted to share today that is truly special! And it is art, still- just not mine.

My friend from high school, Joe, has been following his dream of getting into the film industry in both acting and doing behind the scenes work, and he is doing an incredible job. Recently, a film he was in was accepted as a contender in B.C.'s United Way Care to Change Video Competition. The message behind the film, the directing, the subtle acting, the editing- all of it is just beautiful and so touching. If you are an animal lover, especially dogs, you will love it. But even if you are not, it is still wonderful.

If you have a few minutes, I would love for you to check it out and vote for it if you feel so inclined. The video is very short, and it would mean the world to me and Joe. Plus, he is an incredible person who gives everything he can to help those in need.

Dewey Todd; Doomed Bellhop

Much like the luggage and undelivered mail that sits in the neglected and dusty lobby of the Hollywood Tower Hotel, Dewey Todd is the forgotten Bellhop that worked in the hotel so many years ago. Now doomed to spend the rest of his days trapped in the cursed maintenance service elevator he once loved so much, Dewey has become the sole operator, waiting for you to join him. I would like to invite you if you dare to step aboard because in tonight's episode, you are the star. And this elevator travels directly to...the Twilight Zone.

Again, Dewey was inspired by my Disney obsession and my latest endeavor of going there for Halloween. The Haunted Mansion and the Hollywood Tower of Terror are my FAVORITE rides ever, so now I have two friends to remind me of the rides and keep me motivated on working towards getting there.

Doctor Who Adipose Hoodie!

I have a hard time finding clothes that fit me- ESPECIALLY jackets. I am very small, but I am not built like a child so fitting is just hard. I really wanted a new hoodie, and I thought it would be awesome to get a Doctor Who one. Well, needless to say, it was impossible to find one that fit. Sooo, what is a girl to do??

Make her own!

I found some plain hoodies that actually fit me at JC Penney's and I stocked up on them. Since I love the adipose the most, I went with that for my first theme. The appliques were hand drawn by me and cut on material in pieces. I used bonding adhesive to iron them all onto black silhouettes for sturdiness and then they were sewn on to the jacket to make sure they stay. I sewed each separate piece.

I love my new jacket. I only wear it inside right now since it is still hot, but I can't wait when I have to opportunity to wear it out and see if anybody knows what it is. (I live in a tiny town where few people will recognize it.)

More Wizard Wands! (Special Ones)

I know you have seen a million wands from me already, but I wanted to share a few specific ones I made for gifts. These first three were made for myself, and my two BFF's Lani and Amy. I wrote a story about how each wand was made from the same yeti hair and phoenix tail feather, forever bonding and linking us together.

Click on the image to make it larger and you can see the story. Each wand's description spoke of what wood the wand was made from and it's symbolism describing it's recipient. The wood I chose (theoretically of course!) for each wand was based on each person's birthday and the Celtic Wood Calendar. This is my card but you can see all the others on my facebook fanpage. :)

These next two were for my best friend and brother, who ended up dating and moving in together after they met at my wedding!

Tara LOVES turtles and so I had been saving this charm to use for something just for her.

I think of her Patronus as a turtle because she is wise, creative, orderly, protective, stable, and strong; all things associated with turtle symbolism

This one is for my brother.

Chad loves fire and is also a firefighter. His wand has a flame to show not only his love and fascination for burning flames, but also because fire symbolizes change (which there has been A LOT of for the both of this year), creativity, passion, and action which all relate to him greatly.

Also, the wooden bead was made by our Dad, where we inherited a large part of our creativity.

Now, I am off to cast some spells with my own wand!

Spooky Pookyvanders Wands Boxes!

I made these for some gifted wands and I loved how they turned out! So I thought I would share them. They are aluminum foil boxes, painted gold and wrapped with ribbons. I designed the logo in photoshop. The little cards were the back story to the wands, which I wrote about the receiver and I based them on the wooden celtic birthday calendar, much like J.K. Rowling was inspired to do for some of the characters. :)

Wistful Wendy- Another Ghost Doll

Today, August 13th, was my mom's birthday! She is the greatest woman on Earth and I wanted to give her something she would love for her birthday. She has been wanting a ghost doll ever since I made my first one, Little Lilly, so I already knew that is what I would make her. But I wanted to make it personal to her, so I created Wistful Wendy. My mom's name is Wendy, and she is a children's librarian who reads like it is nobody's business!

May I present to you, Wistful Wendy:

Here we have a child once known as Wistful Wendy,

Curious and smart, she did her own thing and was not very trendy.

With her nose always buried in an adventurous book,

She rarely ever thought to take a second look.

Wistful Wendy never took a break from her wonderful tales,

People would try to get her attention but would always fail.

Because of her lack of attention she often came close to taking a nasty fall,

But she didn’t even notice because she was too enthralled.

Wistful Wendy wished real life were more like the stories she read,

And she read all day long until it was time for bed.

Unable to ever tear her eyes away,

Her family worried that she might get in trouble someday.

That day came when Wendy was walking along in her usual manner,

Her eyes glued to a book she didn’t notice the creeping vines growing out from a planter.

She was surely to trip on the thick plants if she didn’t look up quick,

And the road below her was made up of brick.

This spelled out disaster, but for once Wendy was unimpressed with her story,

For the first time ever she looked up because she found it boring!

It must have been fate because Wendy was able to hop over the viney patch,

She landed on her feet with not even a scratch!

Dancing with victory, Wendy was ever so pleased,

But it didn’t last long and she fell to her knees.

Because of her habits her fingers were covered in paper cuts, never properly treated,

Too busy reading, the germs in the cuts spread until she was finally defeated.

Beauregard, The Haunted Mansion Butler!

This is Beauregard. He once worked as a butler in a beautiful mansion but like so many others who worked in that ghastly but wonderous house, he met an early demise. He is one of the 999 souls taken by that Haunted place. Now doomed to forever roam the grounds of New Orleans Square in Disneyland as a permanent cast member, Beauregard just needs a friend. And I am here to fulfill that.

Standing at about 15 inches tall. He was inspired by a trip my husband and I are desperately trying to save up for- Disneyland and the Tim Burton exhibit in October! I wanted something to sit by my sewing machine to keep me motivated and inspire me to keep working towards the trip. I liked the idea of him being a Burton-ish skeleton with Mickey ears dressed like a Haunted Mansion prop. Tim Burton and Walt Disney are two of my biggest heroes, and this trip is a lifelong dream. I LOVE Halloween and it is my favorite time of year- I have wanted to see the Nightmare Haunted Mansion takeover more than anything, and once I found out Tim Burton has an exhibit at the LACMA this year, I knew it had to be now or never. So Beauregard is going to sit by and remind me and keep pushing me towards my goal!

Oh, and then I added the red scarf because my third hero is Meat Loaf...good measure, ya know? And he is named after a tombstone in the Haunted Mansion ride!
